Dean Dizikes began making models as a boy. For the past ten years he has combined his interest in history with the creation of cast metal miniatures set in authentically recreated environments and he makes history come to life for us!
With a degree in American History Dean’s work is a rare treat for a history buff. It takes time and the viewer wants to linger to appreciate the detail in vivid colors. The décor in his sophisticated assemblages resembles sets of action movies with hundreds of extras and exclusive interior design elements such as oriental rugs, aristocratic portraits and ethnic costumes.
Dean is a member of the S. C. Military Miniature Society and participates in their annual shows at the State Museum in Columbia. Two years ago he was the lead designer of the club’s diorama depicting a Roman Imperial Triumph which included over 300 figures and numerous structures.
