Juliana Kim - For forty years, extensive travels have provided ample material to investigate the essence of space and place.  She has an exhibit "Visual Wanderings" at Picture This Gallery (Nov 4-30, 2009) showing paintings inspired by her travels.  Juliana works in various media, including oil and acrylic, watercolor and pastel, depending on the subject and painting environment.  Overall her work might be considered “landscapes”, whether traditional representations or abstracted conceptions, mostly painted in her Boston studio.  Here in the Lowcountry, she enjoys meditating on the natural beauty by painting "en plein air".

Juliana has been reveling in the visual arts since childhood and has been able to pursue painting as a full-time career for the last nine years.  Her education includes a BA from Vassar, an MBA and a 4-year studio diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her previous work experiences (in the museum curatorial world; architectural design and preservation; city planning and commercial real estate; college-level teaching), provide conceptual and relational depth to her current explorations.

In Boston, Juliana is a  member of the United South End Artists, the Back Bay Artists, and the Cambridge Art Association.  Her work has been in many juried group exhibitions and is in private collections in the US and England.  Here in the south, she is a member of the Hilton Head Art League, the Beaufort Art Association, the Society of Bluffton Artists and the SC Watermedia Society.
