Mark Larkin is an American born artist who grew up in the middle of the country and received his BFA Degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He studied under a great and under-appreciated sculptor named Sidney “Buz” Buchanan. Larkin also did a one year Art Studies Programme at the Manchester College of Art and Design in Great Britain.
Mark creates each sculpture piece one at a time using skills akin to blacksmithing and traditional welding. He likes to use traditional tools to get untraditional results. His ability to make something as rigid as steel into a playful yet functional artwork is what makes his work unique. “My inspiration comes from listening and observing; people, nature, architecture and wildlife.”
