Art League Inaugurates Golden Ear Award
In the spirit of Vincent van Gogh the Art League of Hilton Head will be presenting its first annual Golden Ear Award to the Best in Show at the Art League’s Member Show. Van Gogh, a visionary who shook the foundation of the art world was the inspiration for the award.
Holly Koons McCullough, Chief Curator of Fine Arts and Exhibitions at the Telfair Museum of Art will judge the event, honoring the top three artworks with gold, silver and copper ears. A plaque inscribed with the Best of Show winner will be displayed at the Art League Gallery in Pineland Station.
The Golden Ear is being created by local artist David Musial whose quirky sculptures and humorous “slice of life” paintings of island icons like Harold’s Diner have made him one of the island’s most popular artists.
The public is invited to the exhibit opening with a reception on Thursday, September 10 5-7pm at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. For details call 843-681-5060 or check at www.artleaguehhi.org. The exhibit will run from September 10 through October 7th and will be open 9-4:30 Monday through Saturday and 11-3 on Sunday.
